What is the SmartCityHub and what does it offer?
The SmartCityHub is Luxembourg’s space for testing AI and smart city solutions in real urban settings. We bring cities and innovators together to run safe, funded real-life experiments – supporting secure, interoperable adoption of digital technologies.
In which way will this improve the lives of our citizens?
It helps cities try out smart solutions like digital assistants, better waste collection, or traffic tools faster and with less risk. It is about solving everyday problems and making city more efficient and sustainable, so everyday life gets better for everyone.
How can cities and innovators join the SmartCityHub?
Start by letting us know you're interested. If it is a good fit, we sign a simple agreement and set up a workshop to plan the experiment. From there, we guide and support you through the whole process.
How is SmartCityHub connected to LIST and CitCom.ai?
SmartCityHub is operated by the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST), a leading European research institution. It forms the Luxembourg branch of CitCom.ai, a network of EU Testing and Experimentation Facilities (TEF) for smart cities, co-funded by the EU until the end of 2027.
From 2028 onwards, SmartCityHub will launch a portfolio of market-ready services, accessible to all stakeholders on a fair and transparent basis. These services will include expert advice, structured testing opportunities, and comprehensive support for adopting solutions.
Is the project aligned with GDPR and national/EU legal requirements?
Yes. Every solution we work with must meet legal and ethical standards. Compliance is checked in every experiment.
How much does this cost our city?
Right now, there’s no cost for your city. We provide funded support for your experiment. After 2027, this support may no longer be available, so now is the right time to join.
